Can This $0.90 Stock Strike Big Copper in Peru?
Backed by majors, this junior’s wild frontier is finally being tested.
A New Copper Opportunity Is Taking Shape in Peru’s Jungle
In central Peru—once a no-go zone due to coca production and conflict—modern exploration is finally underway. And Hannan Metals Ltd. (TSXV: HAN | OTC: HANNF) has just begun its first-ever drill campaign on what could be a large-scale copper-gold-silver system.
The focus is the Valiente Project, an underexplored land package totaling more than 1,100 km²—a scale notable for a junior explorer.
Recent announcements confirm that drilling is now underway at high-priority targets. One of the structures being tested extends over 700 meters in strike length—roughly the size of seven football fields.
What Makes This Project Noteworthy?
Hannan’s Valiente and San Martin projects are early-stage and high-risk—typical of grassroots exploration. But a few key factors have put this junior on the radar:
📍 Scale
Valiente covers more than 1,100 km² of underexplored ground—an unusually large land position for a junior explorer and a standout footprint in one of the world’s top copper-producing nations.
🤝 Strategic Backing
US$35 million joint venture with Japan’s JOGMEC (San Martin Project)
Teck Resources (TSX: TECK) holds a 9.9% equity stake, signaling confidence from one of Canada’s largest miners
This kind of institutional support—before a maiden drill result—is rare and suggests real technical interest in the company’s ground.
Copper Demand Is Rising—But Supply Isn’t
Copper plays a central role in electrification—from EVs to renewables to national grids. Yet new discoveries are becoming increasingly rare.
According to the IEA:
Global copper demand is projected to double by 2035
Supply gaps are expected unless major new deposits are developed
If Hannan can validate a new system in a mining-friendly jurisdiction, it may become strategically important—though no economic assessment has been made yet.
Valiente: What We Know So Far
Hannan believes Valiente sits within a previously unrecognized Miocene-age porphyry belt—a rare frontier opportunity in one of the world’s most prolific copper regions.
Since 2021, the company has mapped and sampled across this 1,100 km² package, identifying 18 mineralized targets spanning porphyry copper, epithermal gold, and hybrid systems. These include:
A 4 km × 4 km gold-in-soil anomaly at Previsto, now hosting 650 meters of confirmed bedrock gold mineralization and multiple high-grade vein zones
Belen, where drilling has begun on a 2.4 km-long geophysical target with outcropping gold-copper mineralization
Early-stage surface sampling has returned:
Select boulders assaying up to 16% copper and 4.4 g/t gold
Channel samples including 21 m @ 0.46 g/t Au and 5.2 g/t Ag, and localized high-grade veins over 23 g/t Au
⚠️ Note: These results are from surface and may not reflect broader deposit grades. Systematic drilling is now underway to test subsurface continuity, structure, and scale.
Together, these zones point to a potentially district-scale, multi-target mineral system—with geologic traits seen in globally significant porphyry-epithermal belts like Porgera or Cripple Creek.
🔄 New Update: Gold Zones Expand at Previsto
On June 3, 2025, Hannan reported that gold mineralization at the Previsto target now extends over 650 meters of strike within a 4 km × 4 km gold-in-soil anomaly.
Highlights:
New zones identified south and west of the original discovery, including:
21 m @ 0.46 g/t Au, 5.2 g/t Ag (incl. 3 m @ 1.87 g/t Au)
21 m @ 0.26 g/t Au, 5.8 g/t Ag
High-grade veins remain open along strike, with gold hosted in alkalic-type epithermal systems
These results suggest geologic similarities to major global gold deposits like Porgera and Cripple Creek. The mineralization is part of a broader multi-target district Hannan is now advancing.
🚀 Drilling Underway at Belen
At Belen—23 km from Previsto—Hannan has completed its first diamond drill hole (HDDVA001 at 184.6 m). Up to 5,000 meters of drilling across 18 holes is planned across three targets:
Vista Alegre (2.4 km geophysical anomaly)
Sortilegio (1.2 km alkalic porphyry system)
Ricardo Herrera (1,000 m × 250 m copper-gold zone)
Assay results are expected beginning July 2025.
What’s Next: Key Catalysts to Watch
High Risk, Early Stage—But Potentially Significant
Hannan Metals is a pre-revenue, grassroots explorer. There are no confirmed resources or economic studies, and exploration outcomes are uncertain.
However, the combination of scale, funding, and early geologic indicators has drawn support from major industry players—and the next 6–12 months may begin to define whether Valiente is a true district in the making.
